Tools & Commands
Moderation is much easier (and more consistent) when you have the right tools. Whether you're handling spam, enforcing rules, or logging actions, here are the basics every mod team should be using:
-
Warnings:
Inform users when they’re close to breaking rules.
Use bots like Dyno, Carl-bot, Auora, or YAGPDB to issue structured warnings. -
Temporary Mutes:
Pause a user’s ability to chat to cool down situations.
Tools like Auora, YAGPDB, and Carl-bot help automate temporary mutes. -
Kicks and Bans:
Remove disruptive users either temporarily or permanently.
Dyno, Auora, and Carl-bot can quickly enforce server safety with kicks or bans. -
Message Deletion:
Remove inappropriate content to maintain a clean environment.
Use YAGPDB or Dyno to bulk-delete spam or filter messages automatically. -
Auto-Mod & Filters:
Prevent rule-breaking content before it's posted.
Carl-bot, Auora, and Dyno can block specific words, links, or patterns with custom filters. -
Logging & Reports:
Keep track of infractions, actions, and deleted messages.
Set up mod-logs using Carl-bot, Auora, or ModMail for full visibility of staff actions.
Handling Conflicts
Conflicts happen. Your job is to manage them calmly and fairly:
- Stay Calm and Neutral: Don’t take sides or react emotionally.
- Listen to All Parties: Understand the full story before acting.
- Use Warnings or Timeouts: Often a gentle reminder or timeout is enough to resolve issues.
- Escalate Serious Problems: If conflicts persist, involve senior admins or owners.
